ADULT CHOIR MINISTRY

The Cathedral Pontifical Chorale

  • Directed by Lee Gwozdz and assisted by Mark Urbina
  • Membership limited to 85 Volunteer Singers
  • 9:30a.m. Sunday Televised Mass (Warm-up: 8:45a.m.)
  • Rehearse once-a-week Thursday Nights from 7:15-9:30p.m.

The Schola Cantorum (Current Membership - 12 Men)

  • Directed by Eddy Fernandez
  • 5:30p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass Bi-Monthly (Warm-up: 4:30p.m.)
  • Rehearse Bi-Monthly on Wednesday Nights from 8:30 - 9:30p.m.

Cathedral Cantor Program

  • Members chosen by the directors from Cathedral Pontifical Chorale.
  • Candidates must be a member of the Chorale for at least one season.
  • The ability to read and learn music on their own is required.
  • Rehearse bi-monthly prior to a Pontifical Chorale Rehearsal at 6pm on Thursday Nights.

Cathedral Handbell Choir

  • Under the Direction of Daniel Vasquez
  • Consist of music readers from the Cathedral Pontifical and Youth Chorale.
  • Play on the Sr. Anne Smiley Memorial Handbells.
  • Rehearsals take place on Thursday Nights from 6:00 – 7:00pm

CONTRACT OF COMMITMENT:
All Choirs’ sign a 10-month Annual Contract of Commitment - The Contract begins in September and concludes on Corpus Christi Sunday in June. All returning members and new prospects are interviewed annually during August and September. A 15-minute interview session involves the discussion of the Contract Schedule, Policies and Re-Choir-ments of the particular choir. It concludes with a free-vocal check-up at no charge to the singer.

REPERTOIRE
With the exception of the Schola Cantorum - all choirs sing all styles of music from Chant to Contemporary. The Service music is the same at All Masses.
