CHILDREN’S CHOIR MINISTRY

Cathedral Cherub Choir

  • Directed by Lee Gwozdz and Assisted by Celina Gonzalez
  • Membership limited to 32 singers (Boys and Girls- Grades 1-3)
  • 5:30 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass Once a month (Warm-up: 5:00 p.m.)
  • Rehearse Weekly on Thursday Afternoons from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m.

Cathedral Choristers

  • Directed by Lee Gwozdz and Assisted by San Juana Rodriguez
  • Membership limited to 40 singers (Boys and Girls - Grades 4 - 7)
  • 12:15 p.m. Sunday Mass Weekly (Warm-up: 11:25 a.m.)
  • Rehearse Weekly on Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m.

Cathedral Youth Chorale

  • Membership limited to 60 singers
  • Young men and women - Grades 8-12/ Junior College)
  • 12:15 p.m. Sunday Mass Weekly (Warm-up: 11:40 a.m.)
  • Rehearse Weekly on Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Cathedral Youth Cantor Program

  • Members chosen by the directors from the Cathedral Youth Chorale.
  • Candidates must be a member of the Youth Chorale for at least one season.
  • The ability to read and learn music on their own is required.
  • Rehearsals for each cantor begin 2 weeks prior to their scheduled assignment on Wednesday Nights following rehearsal after 8:30 p.m

CONTRACT OF COMMITMENT:
All Choirs’ sign a 10-month Annual Contract of Commitment - The Contract begins in September and concludes on Corpus Christi Sunday in June. All returning members and new prospects are interviewed annually during August and September. A 15-minute interview session involves the discussion of the Contract Schedule, Policies and Re-Choir-ments of the particular choir. It concludes with a free-vocal check-up at no charge to the singer.

REPERTOIRE
With the exception of the Schola Cantorum - all choirs sing all styles of music from Chant to Contemporary. The Service music is the same at All Masses.
