POLICY
FOR FLORIST
Flowers
and plants reveal something of the beauty of God’s creation and
have a special place in the Church’s celebration of Her liturgies.
Flowers enhance the sacred areas where the Mysteries of God are celebrated
and can serve as a means of lifting up the spirits of those gathered for
worship, praising God for the work of His hands.
As
the one chosen to provide floral arrangements for this wedding, you are
most welcome to reflect your artistry in the adornment of the sanctuary
and other areas of Corpus Christi Cathedral. In order to have a good,
continuing relationship, not only with this wedding, but also with other
events at Corpus Christi Cathedral, you are asked to observe the following
policy:
- Flowers
and greenery must be natural; nothing artificial is allowed.
- Flowers
and greenery may be placed to the side of the altar, around the tabernacle
in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and at other places in the sanctuary
which are not in spaces used by the Liturgical Ministers or the Bridal
party.
- Sanctuary
furniture may not be moved for any reason.
- Setup
of flowers, greenery and other decorations must be completed 30 minutes
prior to the start of the wedding.
- Flowers
used for the wedding ceremony are considered donations to the church
and must remain in the church after the ceremony.
- Cathedral
Candelabra may be used; however, we ask that no other candelabra be
brought in, since the candles of the altar are the primary symbol of
the Light of Christ.
- No
birdseed, rice, flowers, petals, or confetti may be thrown in or around
the church building.
- No
tape, adhesive materials, nails or tacks may be used on the carpet,
pews or woodwork.
- Because
of the danger of tripping, aisle runners are not permitted in the Cathedral.
- All
items belonging to the florist should be picked up at least by the end
of the following week. The parish is not responsible for any lost or
stolen items.
- During
the liturgical Seasons of Advent, Lent, Christmas, and Easter, the decorations
used in the church are to be considered permanent.
- All
who enter the Cathedral at any time must observe the proper decorum,
i.e., silence, respect and reverence.
- If
you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Wedding
Coordinator (Cathy Patterson, at 880-7721) for clarification
